The Figure: The color scheme is really good on this figure leaving no real need for panel lining and denotes a pretty good menacing look. The Scheme also looks good for those who may have not liked the green look of the normal Geara Doga.
The head has plenty of articulation in terms of rotation however due to some power cables in the neck area along with the head design (it even has 3 thrusters underneath the helmet), vertical motion is not possible. The detail on the head and neck area is top-notch though, and a Germanic influence is definitely seen in the helmet design. The antenna on the head looks a little large but still doesnt take too much away from the figure. The Arms are pretty well articulated and like the head loaded with detail. The shoulder-to-torso connection is done via a ball joint that offers the articulation a ZakuII would die for. A shoulder thruster nozzle is found on each shoulder and is joined by a ball joint to allow for a limited degree of movement and detail is still maintained. The shield on the right shoulder has four spikes while the traditional "spiked armor" has five spikes and a moveable thruster nozzle underneath the plate but in contrast with the Zaku line none of these plates are removable. The hands feature a groove in the palm to allow holding items like the beam saber, even in the gun hand, a trait recent figures are thankfully beginning to feature. All-in-all detail is great here and no movement is really lost. The legs are rather bare in terms of gimmicks but the Geara Doga design lacked anything in terms of extra thrusters anyway. Leg movement isnt that hindered however the feet cannot be angled forward due to some unmovable ankle armor fused with the rest of the lower leg, but that would be my only complaint. Detail is still held at a high level here.
The torso shows some of the Zaku lineage along the front only more streamlined. The backpack shows a more realistic look for what a space faring MS would carryFuel tanks. Unlike the Sazabi and Gelgoog Marine the fuel tanks dont protrude out and are instead stored in a way to look like a backpack with about six apogee thrusters (each movable) securing the it. If you look at this Doga at the front the oversized backpack makes the MS look more like a soldier. The Accessories:
Beam MachineGun: The plastic that its made of is a little flexible but fortunately the the overall thickness of the gun prevents it from warping easily. Unlike the Normal Geara Dogas Rifles the lack of any moving parts makes this gun seem rather sparse in comparison. However it is held rather well.
Beam Axe and Beam Saber: The hilts are the same only the lengths of the handles differ. There are three blades included: a beam axe blade, A beam sword blade along with some short slashing blade that may accompany the sword blade. The blades are pretty well textured so that they dont look so much like a tube. The only downside to this and some of the other CCA figures is that the melee weapons seem to be a little flimsy and lack the stability of some of the smaller MSiAs. One hilt can be placed on the rear skirt armor.
The shield: Not to be confused with the plate on the shoulder this rather large shield connects at the back of the forearm. This shield houses the 4 panzerfausts. It is also made of two separate parts allowing the shield to bend at an angle however on the figure the shoulder armor tends to prevent much bending. Two parts are attached to the shorter half of the shield, which I assume to be flares or something of the sort.
Panzer Fausts: These things are rather flimsy, even more so then the Kampfers but these ones have red warheads and couldnt be much thicker to fit on the shield but the other accessories tend to make up for this flaw.
Play Value: Like the Green Geara Doga, I see this figure having tons of play value but then again Ive always been rather partial to Grunt suits. The figure is also rather stable to play with enough gimmicks to keep you interested and keep from slowing down game play with too many falling parts or complex setups even though this Geara features one less weapon.
Display Value: It may not sport a massive gun but the detail and variety of accessories allow for this figure to look intimidating and has the articulation to strike the poses you nee in your display. It also helps to have a couple of Normal Geara Dogas placed nearby for this one to command. The Blue Scheme again looks good and wont hurt your collection in terms of odd looking colors.
Dollar Value: Picking this little guy up at Target for around $7.99 was definitely worth it. The CCA units are large compared to their Wing and OYW counterparts, throw in weapons, great detail, and articulation makes it more then worth it. And besides Seeing as my other CCA figures came from Kaybees this guy came at a bargain.
Conclusion: A Great Grunt Commanders Suit, with minor problems, however whether you are displaying this figure or playing with it, it is definitely worth adding to the collection.
Score: 7.4 A great command grunt figure with some fragile equipment.
